Marked Safe from society.

I think I should probably introduce myself.

Hi, I’m Alexsis. I’m a mom of two boys, 8 and 6, which is probably the most important thing to know about me first.

I’m also a wife, former corporate marketing girl, stay-at-home mom, homeschool mom, business owner, creative, fire wife, friend, chronic idea-haver, starter of things, lover of motherhood, lover of getting dressed, lover of being home and, equally, lover of leaving the house.

Basically, I’m a lot of things.

And for a while, if I’m being completely honest, I was really confused about which one of those versions of me I was supposed to be.

Apparently, We’re Supposed to Pick a Lane

Somewhere along the way, I started feeling like I needed to pick a lane. And society LOVES a lane.

Career woman? Great. Stay committed.

Stay-at-home mom? Beautiful. Make that your whole thing.

Entrepreneur? Okay, but you better be building an empire.

Homeschool mom? Better make your own sourdough too.

Fashion? Business? Motherhood? Faith? Creativity? Being home with your kids?

Apparently, we need categories. And once you choose one, please stay there so everyone knows where to put you.

Because venture into another lane and suddenly you’re “not committed enough.” You’re “always onto something new.” You’re “trying to figure out what you want to do with your life.”

Or my personal favorite...

“You have a lot going on.”

Yes.

Yes, I do.

Consider Me Marked Safe

At this point, I would like to officially declare myself safe from society.

Because I don't think like that anymore. More importantly, I'm not living like that anymore.

And that's really where MILF Rodeo started.

Truthfully, I created this because I needed it.

I needed a place where all of me could exist at the same time without feeling like I needed to explain how one piece fit with the other.

For a while I thought I needed to “find myself again” after becoming a mom. But the more I've thought about that, the more I've realized I don't actually believe I lost myself.

Motherhood didn't take me away from myself.

It changed me.

It grew me.

It introduced me to a version of myself I had never met before.

And THAT was the confusing part.

Maybe I Wasn't Lost After All

I became a mom and suddenly the things that used to define my life didn't fit exactly the same way anymore.

Some still fit. Some I outgrew. Some I missed. Some I wanted back. And completely new pieces of me started showing up that I didn't even know existed.

For a long time, I thought I needed to figure out which version was the real one.

Turns out, they're all me.

I can absolutely love being home with my boys and still love building something. I can homeschool and have a marketing brain that never shuts off. I can be deeply rooted in my family and still get excited about a new idea at 10:47 at night.

I can love motherhood without pretending every single day is magical. I can want a slow life and still have big dreams. I can be incredibly grateful for the life I have and still wonder what else God put on my heart for a reason.

None of those things cancel each other out.

And I have a feeling I'm not the only mom who has needed to hear that.

So, That's Why We're Here

MILF Rodeo started as something I needed for myself.

A place without all the lanes and labels. A place where nobody needs to decide what kind of woman or mom you are before you're allowed to sit with us.

Because I don't think there's one right way to do this.

Some of us work. Some stay home. Some do both. Some homeschool. Some are counting down the minutes until school drop-off on Monday. Some are building businesses during nap time. Some don't want to build a single thing besides a really good life with their family.

Some of us are in a season where we're crushing it.

Some of us reheated our coffee four times today and called that perseverance.

You're still invited.

Because the common denominator here isn't what we do.

It's that we're mothers.

And we actually really, really like being mothers.

We're not trying to escape motherhood. We're not waiting around for our “old selves” to come back.

We're living the good ol' days right now.

Messy kitchens. Carpool. Date nights. Big dreams. Grocery runs. Football fields. Laundry piles. Business ideas. Bedtime snuggles. Girls' nights. Faith. Family.

All of it.

I Think That's Really It

I wanted somewhere I didn't have to explain why I could be all of these things at once.

Somewhere I could change my mind. Try something new. Go all in on my family. Get excited about a new idea. Wear something that makes me feel good. Laugh at the absolute chaos of raising kids. And still say, without hesitation, that I love this life.

I don't totally know what MILF Rodeo will become yet.

And for probably the first time in my life, I don't feel like I need to.

I just know I wanted this space to exist.

I needed it for me.

And maybe you're reading this because you needed a little bit of it too.

A place where you don't have to pick a lane or explain why you've changed your mind for the 47th time.

You can just be a mom who really loves being a mom, while also being every other version of yourself that comes along for the ride.

So I guess that's my introduction.

I'm Alexsis.

I didn't pick a lane.

I built a rodeo.

Seems fitting. LOL
